does anyone have a solution for this issue. I recently bought a brand new battery for my X31. Its only been 6 months. Now the battery will not charge the battery light on my laptop is blinking orange but my AC adapter is powering up my laptop when I use it.
I tried removing the battery and reinserted it and also I took out the battery from the laptop and left the laptop without the battery overnight still no luck the battery won't charge.
Battery will not charge on thinkpad X31
Did you buy an original IBM replacement part, or one of the knockoffs on eBay? The knockoffs can sometimes be dodgy, as they don't have the proper circuitry as an original part. Many on this board won't use batteries other than original IBM parts for this reason. They are on the expensive side, but you are assured it will work properly.
Also, how often do you use your X31 on battery? If you have battery maximizer installed, click the plug icon next to the percentage panel in the task bar while the battery is installed and plugged in. (If not, download it from IBM)
Select battery information, in the dialog box that appears, select Battery Health, that will give you info on reconditioning the battery. In battery health green is good, red means you need to recondition the battery, follow the steps given there.
Then select the status detail tab and the information tab. These two dialogs will give you detailed information about your battery, it's original design capacity, and remaining capacity.

I ran a battery tester download software from Lenovo it said the battery was healthly and the I typed in the serial no or bar code number in the battery recall on Lenovo website and it said it wasn't recalled. Guess this means a battery from lenovo. Any other suggestions on why the battery is not charging.
battery status in the power meter window
on the power meter window the message is power state: online, Critical
Does anyone know if this is a bad battery.
