New machine!

Just recently purchased an X41 tablet from AvalonXIII (great guy) and so far its been great. My T42 feels so heavy compared to the X41, and its much easier to travel around with when on the go. I also just purchased a sleeve which has one clear side for tablet use.

This is my first tablet PC and the tablet feature is great, especially when just browsing. The only drawback is that it doest not have an optical drive, but now that I started using this I realized I don't really use it much.

Next up on the list is a RAM upgrade. It currently has 1gig with a 512 stick in the back, and another 512 under the keyboard I assume. Whats the max RAM it can hold? Is the other 512 chip replaceable or is that soldiered in?

The RAM is not soldered. Your X41T will support upto 2 GB.

One of the 512MB modules is soldered. The other is replaceable -- you can replace it with either a 1GB stick (to get a total of 1.5GB), or a 2GB stick although only 1.5GB will be recognized (i.e. you'll get 2GB total).

Yes Im almost certain its soldered. Ill be getting a 1gig stick which should be enough. I also just purchase another 8-cell for more unplugged time.

Ohh no need for apologies. I was surprised to see the RAM being soldered, when most of the models are replaceable.
