X31 Memory Corsair Value Select or Kingston Value

#1 Post by makeitcount » Wed Feb 06, 2008 8:47 am

I'm thinking either:

Corsair Value Select 1 x 1 GB
1 x 1 GB (1 GB) / DDR SDRAM / PC2700 / 333 MHz / ? Bit? ns
SO DIMM 200-pins
Product code: VS1GSDS333

or

Kingston ValueRAM 1 x 1 GB
1 x 1 GB (1 GB) / DDR SDRAM / PC2700CL2.5 / 333 MHz / ? Bit? ns
SO DIMM 200-pins
Non buffered
Lead: Gold (whatever that means)
Product code: KVR333X64SC25/1G

They come out to be about the same price, with Kingston being like 3 bucks cheaper than the Corsair. I'm located in Denmark and I'm shopping locally.

What should I pick? I will eventually get two, but for now due to a limited budget I will just pick 1 stick and keep the 246 that's already in my machine.

Be advised that many members have reported problems with Kingston Value RAM in ThinkPads...

I always remember some info whereby kingston uses an inferior ram chip type in it's modules by default (less guaranteed writes). I can't remember the details, but it's not the best quality memory (heresay). Believe it or not, transcend has a bit of a following but is unfairly regarded as an low-brow brand. my 2c

Hello everybody !

Very busy the last months, so not often connected.

But I will buy an X31 very soon (the next week, probably). :p

As it's sold with 512 MB, I wanted to know if I will be able to use the VS1GSDS400 in this laptop. I think there is no problem, because they are similar to VS1GSDS333. Has someone got these in their X31 ?

Thank you very much ! :)
