Ready to buy my first X series with specific specs NOW!! :)

#1 Post by Crunch » Sat Feb 09, 2008 1:20 am

Hey everyone...I would like to get an X series Thinkpad. I asked a similar question in the X60/X61 forum a while back, but it looks like I need an earlier model, such as an X40/41(?) to get my hands on another IPS Flexview screen from BOE-Hydris.

Does anyone know the exact models that this company produced? Does anyone HAVE one? Regular IPS will do fine as well, but since it's a 2nd computer, it doesn't have to be screaming fast. Again, the screen is the determining factor here, not anything else. ;)

Anyway, I know the T series inside out, but I am brand new to the X series. Appealing to me are the tablets, touchscreen, SXGA+ resolution, and, again, the screen is what will determine as to which one I will ultimately get.

What else do I need to know before I purchase?? Does anyone want to sell theirs? lol...;)

Thanks to all of you!! ;)

No X series laptops came with IPS screens. The only 12" machine with an IPS screen is the X61t tablet with the hi-res SXGA+ screen ...

Please refer to the LCD sticky below for IPS related facts:

Now: T60 2613-EKU | T23 2647-9NU | 600X 2645-9FU | HP 100LX
Past: X31 2673-Y13 | T41 2374-3HU | T22 2647-AEU

Rules of the road :thumbs-UP:

And the X61t with SXGA+ is not a touchscreen, it only supports the pen.
X220/IPS, T60p/IPS

I read on thinkwiki, that X41 tablet has an S-IPS display. I have this baby and in this very moment direct sun shines on the display and it is very well readable (regardless of brightness, colors a bit skewed). When in dim light, colors are perfect... I don't believe it is TN. I'm sooo happy with it...

That's correct. I will look for the page where it says which X and T series had the BOE-Hydris screen. I'm almost positive that there were two models that were X4xx ones. X41 I THINK. Not sure, though.

Hmme, there's an X61t with Flexview, really? That might be an option then...do you have a type and model #? I am in the market for one more T60p, and two X series Thinkpads.

Thanks for all the responses! 8)

EDIT: Found it...here it is: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/TFT_display

Scroll down, and it is the first one under FFS/IPS Flexview's. Hmm...Only XGA, though...But maybe XGA is better for a 12.1" LCD? And it's an X41t...8)

A little weak on the specs? Hmm... http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Category:X41_Tablet

i can't imagine higher res.. makes no sense for such little screen. Maybe i'm too myopic and somebody makes use of it. But for me, XGA is perfectly ok. What do you miss in the specs? I missed there an explicit mention of a built-in microphone... which is present in my model...
