Failing power supply - use warranty or just buy new?
Failing power supply - use warranty or just buy new?
My 2-year old X32 is still under warranty, but the power supply cable is beginning to fail: I have to twist it to make it work. And it's getting worse.
Is it worth bothering with the warranty (in which case I'll probably have to ship them my power supply for replacement), or should I just buy any compatible one?

You can buy a new charger for your X32 for $8.16, delivered. I have bought one a few weeks ago, and for this price, plus tax (no charge for shipping) a new one can be yours:jhc wrote:My 2-year old X32 is still under warranty, but the power supply cable is beginning to fail: I have to twist it to make it work. They're not going to charge you for return shipment, charges are billed to IBM account, they'll include pre-paid return labels for you. In addition you'll have to ship the defective part once you receive the replacement, not before.jhc wrote:snip....(in which case I'll probably have to ship them my power supply for replacement)....snip

Absolutely get a free new charger under warranty. I'd suggest buying the close out charger as well, since for less than $9 delivered, you can always use a spare.ryengineer wrote:They're not going to charge you for return shipment, charges are billed to IBM account, they'll include pre-paid return labels for you.
