Problem: X23 not working on battery (symptoms described)

#1 Post by Raceboy » Tue Feb 12, 2008 4:28 pm

Hi all, new guy here!

Yesterday I was trying to switch on my X23 using battery and nothing happened even though battery is about 6 moths old and was working ok just the day before.

Ok, put the AC adapter on and it started blinking green like it should when charging battery. In XP power management it says 99% left on the battery and it charges.

Here's what I measured with multimeter.
On the battery + and - terminals it reads 0 volts. On the 3rd pin (starting from the - pin) it reads ~3 volts.

Obviously when battery is not connected, laptop sends 0 volts to battery terminals on battery bay, but when battery connected and voltage measured using thin wires, it starts at 5 volts, which drops gradually to 0 in app 10 seconds. On all other pins (3 of them) there's around 3 volts.

Now the million dollar question: is it battery or X23? I don't have another X23 here to try the battery out, but I could take it to battery shop nearby so they could check it.

But it's kind of odd behaviour having the battery dead in a day, isn't it?
