color profiling an x31 screen with a spyder2 (Pic)

Hi

anyone out there doing photoshop and ensuring correct colour with their x series?

I have a question about the ideal viewing angle on these machines and how this might effect the operation of the profiler.

I find that if I have my screens (seems to be so with x20 as well as my last 2 x31's) that I have the screen not totally perpendicular to my line of vision. I find that if I have the screen angled so that plane of the screen is at 90° to my eyes at the top of the screen, kinda like this.

if I have the screen tilted back a little further it seems to me to show as much darker towards the bottom of the screen (and of course the contrast changes too. For example using this image

in an editor placed at the top and bottom of the screen as a reference. I find that top and bottom look more like eachother when the screen is angled as above.

So, this means that perhaps I should be wedging out the bottom of the spyder when I profile the monitor..

anyone been through this?

MOD EDIT: Picture warning added.
