I've just done a clean Vista install on an x41 Tablet. I can't figure out how to make the screen rotate automatically when I flip the monitor around from laptop mode to slate mode.
Every time I search for this I can only find discussion about Active Rotate, which seems to use the hard drive protection sensor to determine which way I want the screen oriented.
I have a solid state disk installed, so I don't really want to use the hard drive protection. I just want the screen to switch to portrait mode when I flip the panel around into slate mode.
Is there one driver I can install for this? I can't find anything at Lenovo support that talks about it.
x41t Vista screen rotation
Never mind. Got the rotate working when I installed thinkvantage system update and:
Thinkvantage productivity center for ThinkPad
ThinkPad Tablet Shortcut Menu
ThinkPad Hotkey Features Setup
Lenovo System Interface Driver
Windows Vista Update Module KB929191 32bit
At least one of these was required for some of the others. Also I'm hoping to map my right alt key to be Windows key. So I'll see later if I can remove any of these and keep functionality.
Seems now my volume buttons are working, too.

Well, it rotates now but not the right way. Because of the way I have the x41t in a portfolio case, I need the rotation to go the opposite way. Under xp with all the thinkpad tools, there was a setting to control which way it rotated, but I don't see anything like that now under vista, and it doesn't look like there's a tool to handle it, unless it's Access Connections. Any ideas?
Also, anybody know what tool I need to reprogram the keyboard to give myself a windows key under vista?

I believe regedit will suffice, there is a built-in key remapper in windows. Try searching how to switch fn and ctrl...mbubba wrote:Also, anybody know what tool I need to reprogram the keyboard to give myself a windows key under vista?
