X30 Drivers

#1 Post by Steve575 » Thu Feb 14, 2008 12:19 pm

I have just purchased an X30 from eBay, for what I thought was a reasonable price of £130 inc postage.

Since it came blank, devoid of an operating system, as well any discs or accessories, I had to install my own Windows using the COA on the bottom of the laptop. XP installed and working fine, but now I need the drivers for anything to work properly. I went to the lenovo website, punched in the model code and up came what must be hundreds of drivers for my model.

Now, I have downloaded the ones that apply to my needs, which total to about 6 or 7 downloads. Audio, video, wireless etc. But after running the .exe's and rebooting, I find that no change has occurred, and they do not appear to be installed. The wireless icon in the system tray is not there. There is no audio output whatsoever. The monitor is recognised as "Plug and Play on default monitor", or something closely akin to that. The "ThinkPad" button in the top left also produces nothing.

Is there a special way of doing this that I have overlooked? Or is there just one file that I can download and install to do things for me? I've been searching Google for this but not much positive has come up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The files you are installing are only extracting themselves somewhere in C:\DRIVERS\... (at least that was the case when I was downloading them myself, check where they are bring extracted)

Then you have to go to these folders and install them from there. Right now these drivers are only extracted but not installed on your computer.

Good find on the X30!

Or you could download system update 2 from:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... rintLenovo
and let it do the work for you.
