Wireless Adaptor (external card) for x31 -need help!

Hi everyone, this is my first post.

Anyways, the wireless in the x31 is less than stellar, I'm sure you may know. I heard about the Atheros a/b/g card, but am not really technically inclined, and would rather have a removable card to use in other notebooks.

The main problem is that this laptop has a small range and flickery connections when compared to my newer HP dv9000.

I was wondering if I could increase the range and speed by simply plugging in one of these adapter cards:

This one is an 802.11n (is this compatible with an x31?)

As you can see I'm not really experienced with wireless networking. Is there any disadvantage to using one of these plug and play cards?

Depending on which internal card is installed and what router you have, a newer pc card adapter might give you better performance. You might also check to be sure the antenna leads are firmly connected to the internal wireless card. I have both an X31 and an X32 and both get excellent reception with their internal wireless.
