Issues installing WinXP-Tablet

#1 Post by Tazzy » Thu Feb 21, 2008 10:06 am

I downloaded the WinXP tablet iso's from MSDN (both the sp1 and the Sp2 version).

Rebuild it with WinISO so that the CMPNENTS\TABLETPC folder resides on the disk (http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=19847)

For reasons unknown it still won't install with the WinXP-T key on the bottom of my X41T.

Is there a way I could use to validate my XP key?

Can't you get a key through your MSDN subscription? You should be able to do that.

The key from your COA sticker likely won't work with any media - or at least in my experience.

Just did, with a borrowed serial. I can download the OS through lisensing.ms.com but don't have a volume license. A friend of mine has MSDN access and gave me the lic.

Can I change the lic to a corporate lic without loosing functionality?

You can try Magical Jelly Bean software to see if it can change the license key and Windows accepts it as well. Again, in my experience I have had mixed results with such tools but I see no harm in trying. Good luck!
