Did anyone tried to upgrade the cpu on a X41 tablet ?

I was thinking to breath a new life into the tabblet and upgrade it's cpu (overclock it too as per http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthr ... ?p=1607295). Then conttrol the contraption using notebook hardware control to prevent overheating and power drain.

p.s. I know that the only other really usefull upgrade would be ssd, which is still too expensive and the 2.5 GB of RAM to get 2 GB of RAM in Win 32, which is on the way.

I believe the CPU's soldered in, so you can't upgrade it.

As for overclocking, that would depend on how accessible the "pins" are, ie are there vias that go all the way to the other side of the motherboard, so you can do the pinmod on them.

Changing the voltage is also something you should look into, like whether it would prevent you from from going above the LV voltage. Should be easy to test.

Whether it'll work is iffy of course, and you might end up ruining it.

Some people are able to change the CPU without damage. I am not.

In order for that mod to work you need to
  1. replace the 533 MHz FSB CPU with a 400 MHz version and
  2. ground the right pin to overclock it at 533 MHz.
