Lost XP Tablet PC, recovery CDs don't work no warranty

#1 Post by jimmyUT » Mon Mar 17, 2008 6:19 pm

Should I buy Vista? I have heard many bad things about Vista, but with no option to buy Tablet PC in the stores and IBM won't sell me the rr discs because its out of warranty, then I have no other option, correct? any opinions?

I have to get this running based on principle... I got the thinkpad for free :)

IMO, I wouldn't put Vista on anything less than a nice desktop (or a beefy 12 pound laptop)....even then I wouldn't bother with Vista. Do whatever you can to find XP Tablet.

thats kinda what I thought... Any ideas on how to get a copy in my situation? there is one on ebay... but it looks skeptical at best. I even tried building my own through a forum article but I couldn't get the bootfile extractor to work

Jimmy,
Check this thread. TPCollector is selling factory sets of Recovery disks for many ThinkPads, including X41 Tablet, $38 shipped. Sounds like your ticket. Best of luck!

That sounds like a good deal. Newegg has new copies of XP Pro (not tablet :( ).

Go for the recovery discs.
