X31 error at undocking from media slice

#1 Post by fredstev » Sun Mar 30, 2008 9:56 am

Had my first scare with this X31. When I went to undock by pushing the blue undock button (front left corner of media slice), I got the error as explained in another thread.

http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... +undocking

OK, so I removed battery from X31,waited an hour, pushed the power button about 10 times, and all was well. Thing is, it kind of scared me. I've done a lot of searching both here and Lenovo's site. No hard and fast answers for the dock/undock procedure.

My question is, how do you guys dock and undock? I waited until all activity had ceased before pushing the blue button, but it still came up with that cryptic message.

Hello,

I only undock my X31 after shutting down.

I know it's possible to do that when the laptop is powered on, but, this way, I'm sure not to do mistakes.

My 2 cents. :)

Not sure if this applies for a X31, but have you tried the advice in this thread?

Interesting thread, and some of it is relevant to what I'm running into. The Fn+spacebar magnifier just resizes the window smaller like what happens in the thread hart22 found. Pushing the blue button does come up with a message "safe to undock" eventually, but it takes a minute or so for it to happen. I'm using the latest access connections and drivers, and latest bios and embedded controller software.

Everything else works beautifully, it's just sort of dodgy on the undocking.
