Attach a COM port to X20 without Ultrabase?

#1 Post by Raceboy » Fri Apr 04, 2008 2:50 am

Hi guys,
I tune engine management systems on cars as a second job and I need a COM port on my X20. Is it possible to attach the connector to mainboard.
I need 3 wires only: Rx, Tx and GND (pins 2, 3 and 5 on RS232).

Any thoughts?

P.S. I'd stay away from USB-RS232 adapters as they cause many problems.

If you could figure out the pinout for the dock connector, i think it would be possilble.

Quick measuring with DVM didn't reveal any pins that are directly connected to Rx, Tx or GND on Ultrabase X2....

Could someone have pinout for it?
