Just bought a very nice X20

#1 Post by Raceboy » Sun Apr 06, 2008 7:06 am

Saw an ad in our local computing board and decided to take a look at it (no photos in ad but seller was a mile away from me). So, for 80$ I bought it: PIII 600, 128 MB RAM, 20 Gb of awful whining, 12,1" immaculate XGA screen.
It has one broken LCD lid stopper (is that what it's called?), changed that and installed XP to my spare 20 Gb very quiet HDD.

Keyboard is barely used, but battery is not holding any charge.

Funny that it doesn't have LAN, perhaps I should install miniPCI wifi card (I have antennas handy).

Some crappy quality pics:

MOD EDIT: Overlimit pictures, no image warning i.e. converted to links.

I believe it's called the LCD latch if you are referring to the little hooks that secure the LCD assembly when the lid is closed.

Yes, sorry, I couldn't remember it although I know this word. You know, alzheimer

But this is definitely a keeper, I have X23 for my daily work and it serves me well (typing in Word and tuning engine management systems).

I just had to buy it, may well name it as a "spare" when wife asks about another Thinkpad :)

FYI, you can get lid latches from eBay seller wibony and they ship worldwide...I've bought a set for a X24 that I've had a while ago...
