What to look out for in X31

#1 Post by mystix » Wed Apr 09, 2008 12:20 pm

Hey guys,

After reading various threads about the X-series, I have finally settled on the x31. I found someone local selling for 450, it is a bit high, but he says its in mint condition, comes with dock and has 3+hours left on battery.

Anyways on to my questions, besides the obvious visual, what else can I test when I meet with the seller?
I read on here that theres a "doctor" program from Ibm to test the machine. Is that something I should be testing? Are there any other notable programs?

THanks for the help, excited to be picking it up tomorrow!

$450 sounds very high, even in Canada. Just browsing this forum you can find them in the $350 range. For $500, at least in the US, one can get a much better laptop. However, the amount you wish to spend is up to you.

The program you are thinking of is PC Doctor 5. Definitely run this program as it tests many of the components out. I think there is a quick test and thorough test, run the latter.

I agree that $450 is a high price range. But if it comes fully loaded X31, I mean CPU 1.6, 1.7 GHz, 1.5 GB ram, HDD 100GB (7200 rpm),
no issues, screen no dead pixel with docking CDRW/DVD and in mint condition, it may be worth to buy. Besides that I won't. I feel better to spend a bit more than pay less to buy a laptop with some annoying issues.

Anyway, $450 is ,again, a high cost for X31 nowadays.

Wish you find an excellent condition laptop at a reasonable price, like mine.

Good luck.
