Hi,
I have X31 laptop here (2672-MG6), and I tried to connect it to external screen (which has 1680x1050 native resolution). At best I can get 1024x768 resolution on the external screen even when Windows gives me the slider up to 1680x1050. Can I do something about it?
Another issue that I have is with wifi. The machine has this Cisco wifi, and I tried to put a LinkSys WPC54G PCMCIA card but both have the same issue: in a mall around here, it waits forever for the DHCP to give him an IP, and on my friend's house who uses WPA as encryption on it's wifi, I cannot connect (I type the password, windows tries to connect until the window disappears but it's not being connected). Same settings at my house (WPA, Linksys router) and it connects perfectly. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Hetz
display and Wifi questions (X31)
Re: display and Wifi questions (X31)
Yes you can; it may be as simple as making sure you have the latest version graphic drivers from Lenovo.hetz wrote:I have X31 laptop here (2672-MG6), and I tried to connect it to external screen (which has 1680x1050 native resolution). Last year I used an X31 quite happily with a 1680x1050 external monitor. I didn't need to do anything special, but I did get the latest graphic drivers. (BTW -- I was using just the external monitor in this way, not external + notebook LCD)
If you have your external display in "mirror mode" then yes, you'll only get 1024x768. Fn-F7 should toggle through them (or bring up the Presentation Director, from which you can select the mode you want)
If those are no help, I have also heard talk of the "Omega Drivers" helping out here, though I have never needed them.
MacBook Pro Retina 13.3 2560x1600 | i5-4258U | 8GB | 256GB SSD | BT+abgnac
Surface Pro 3 12.0 2160x1440 | i5-4300U | 8GB | 256GB SSD | BT+abgnac
Surface Pro 3 12.0 2160x1440 | i5-4300U | 8GB | 256GB SSD | BT+abgnac
Thanks
It's funny that when you install Lenovo driver, Windows update says there's a newer version of driver which kicks the Lenovo driver. Right hand doesn't know what left hand does
Anyway, I installed the omega drivers and it worked! I can now have both 1024x768 (LCD) and the external screen at 1680x1050.
The funny thing: after going through all those issues, playiing DivX file on full screen (external), the playback is not very smooth, but I guess thats the limit..
Thanks for your help!
