x31/2 vs x20 keyboard

I know all you guys LOVE your "thinkpad" keyboards but I've really disliked the 40+ keyboards such as the t42 i'm typing on currently. The t30 t23 and x20 keyboards all have such a nice deep keystroke while with this one the keystroke seems short and unnatural. I was wondering if the x31 series has a similar keystroke to the x20s. Also are there any problems with the x31 series than i'm unaware of? I dont trust the hinges on my x20 anymore

The X31 has specified pitch = 18.5mm, keystroke at 2.5mm, T42 is pitch = 19mm, keystroke 2.5mm. Tawbook doesn't list the spec for X20, but X21 is the same as X31, so I would assume your X20 is similar. Between my T41 and X31, I can hardly tell any difference. In fact I never even noticed there was one.

As for X31 problems, I don't know what you're aware of to begin with, but for me I think the laptop is awesome. It will certainly not be any better or worse than any other Thinkpad in my opinion. All have problems.

It also depends on who the manufacturer of the given keyboard is...Thailand ones are preferred to Chinese...

X31...weak plastics in the palmrest area that tend to break, lot of heat in a small frame leading to mobo failures, but overall a decent machine.
