I got BSOD on Friday night and X31 suddenly stopped working. I haven't been able to turn it on since then. Computer beeps 4 times quickly, screen remains blank, there is no IBM logo. Hard disk works fine on the other computer. This is a bummer because my extended warranty just expired 3 months ago.
What does it mean when it beeps 4 times? I searched Lenovo's website but couldn't find any documents explaining what 4 beeps mean.
4 beeps, blank scree, no cigar?

4 Beeps
Four beeps means a security chip error - replace the motherboard. Here's the link on the Lenovo web site - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-44114.
It's worth pursueing some of the other thoughts referenced in the previous post, but I know (from experience) that you get the 4 beeps when you have a security chip missing or security chip error. There may be other reasons for the 4 beeps as well .. but I'm not familiar with them.
If everything was working right previously, I don't know what could have caused the failure. The security chip resides on the daughter card with the IR and Firewire connections.
Sorry I can't be more helpful ..
