I'm also interested in this information if anyone has done and upgrade to 1.5 gig from 512meg. Will we see programs start up faster, or is everything an issue based on hard drive speed?? I suppose of course the more programs we use we will see the biggest difference, but will there be an improvement even with just a few programs running... Roger

I have had the following combinations with the "T" series (T23, T30, T41) each with 768Mb of memory, and hard drives of 4200, 5400 and 7200 rpm. The T23 never had faster than a 4200 rpm drive in it. Adequate memory for XP (say 256 or 384Mb) is essential for proper operation but more does not increase speed in my opinion. I have 768Mb to afford memory for virtual machines. When there are no virtual machines running, I usually have about 400Mb free. If I load up other applications, free memory decreases for a while, but that only saves a certain amount of swapping. Hard drive speed, in my opinion, adds the best boost to performance in a given machine. After that is done, a faster CPU is the next best performance booster. ... JD Hurst

well i have an x31, and i just did a ram upgrade from 512 to 1 gig and a drive upgrade from 4200 to 7200 and the overall preformance is noticable. it seems to have more of a punch when opening programs, its not my tower but noticably faster

i think the drive had more to do with it than the ram, i did run the ram without the new drive for 1 day and the drive seemed to make a bigger difference
