X22 & DVD burner??

#1 Post by Bg357 » Sun May 11, 2008 1:31 am

Will an X22 run a DVD burner?
Obviously there ARE Ultrabay 2000 DVD burners but I couldn't find a thread specifically discussing this matchup.
While looking at the specs on an UltraBay 2000 burner, I noticed that IBM lists compatibility with an X24 but doesn't mention the X22, see link below...

To answer your question first: yes, it will run a DVD-burner.

The reason why you're not seeing X22 (or X23 for that fact) in the document that you've linked is the fact that they had been withdrawn before the document was issued. Many machines that are not on that list will run that very same burner, no questions asked.

hope this helps.

Thanks George,

I figured it would but I wanted to check with someone who had personal experience.
Technology has progressed so quickly that I sometimes forget when it was that DVD burners became commonplace, and just how much processing power they require. I seem to recall my first external DVD burner requiring a minimum of 4-500mhz but I could quite remember.
