Possible CompactFlash solution for X41

#1 Post by ajacocks » Wed May 14, 2008 11:02 am

All,

I'm a new poster here, but a long time reader. I have a ThinkPad X41, running NetBSD 4.0, into which I would like to install a faster system disk. So, I just ran across the website of a Taiwanese company, called Ambly, the other day. They have lots of embedded and HTPC components available, and notably http://www.ably.com.tw/pdt/viewpdt.asp? ... SSIS_PARTS , which is a 1.8" disk replacement device, with a CF slot on it. Is this in any way better than what has been found, so far?

Thanks!

I saw that one too earlier but when I examined the caddy in my X40 I decided that it would be some work to make it fit nice, and therefore I decided to try the addonics dual cf adapter instead. Apart from it giving me the ability to use two cf cards in the X40 (that probably won't work in the X41) I can't see any benifits, and therefore I chose the cheapest one available.

The one you found is too long to fit into X40's chunk.
