X22 - X24 are rare / Why??

#1 Post by tradbourne » Sat Dec 18, 2004 1:47 pm

I am looking at picking up a small light laptop in the $400 - $700 range. Portability is most important. I want to add wifi and bluetooth and can live with PC-Card implementations until I spring for an X40 . . . . . .

I started looking for an X22 - X24 on eBay but they are rare. The X20 and X21 seem much more available. Why is that?? Was the X20 the sweet spot in this series?

(I will use it for email, excel, powerpoint and will also have a dedicated desktop when I need more power.)

thanks
Tim

Old machines are usually hard to find...

Also almost all the old x series thinkpads are replaced x30 series and x40 series.

not many x22-24 were sold in the world, comparing with other x series.
x22 has much better system than x20, including cpu, motherboard, bus, video card, ram..., they are in different levels. but the price on the market is definitely over-inflated.

The warranties have all expired on the X20 and almost all the X21s. Many of the X22 and up should have some warranty left. I imagine that has something to do with it as well.
