X41t Loose hinge

#1 Post by Shadowlinx » Mon Jun 30, 2008 7:17 am

Does anyone know how to tighten the x41 tablet's hinge? I have taken off the plastic hinge cover but can't see an obvious way of repairing it. As it is, the hinge does not lock in place, allowing the screen to spin freely.

Cheers,

I'm wondering if you figured this problem out as I'm having a similar issue. Mine screen does lock in place, but there is a LOT of play, allowing it to move maybe a centimeter side to side which can get very annoying...

thanks

If it's still under warranty, get it serviced and replaced is probably the best way IMO.

I think unless you bought it right after it's just released, there should be at least a few months left on the warranty.

Mtbiac: You can buy the hinge system from here. However, I am unable to get into my tablet as some of the screw heads are messed up, preventing the screwdriver from biting. Anyone know a workaround for this?

Loyukfai: I bought the tablet second-hand from eBay - would I still be able to use the manufacturer's warranty?

Cheers,

I know I'm replying to a very old post, but this might be useful for others still looking for a solution:

No need to buy a new hinge. Just tighten these two black screws (one is hidden under the cables):

To do that, you need to take the LCD assembly off the main body.
