In my case, after switching to CF, BIOS splash screen takes 20s, up from some 6-7s before. Then two beeps and text message is displayed. After another 3-4s the boot starts. POST takes more than WinXP boot. Scandalous. The BIOS needs hacking...

I Found this on www.lenovo.com:

Version 2.05 (74ET60WW)
Note: This BIOS version will only work with Embedded Controller Program Version 1.00 (or higher).

* (Fix) The CardBus Controller register setting was fixed.
* (Fix) The problem that happens in production line was fixed.
* (Fix) System may hang up when boot device is changed in BIOS setup.
* (New) Added new item in the BIOS Setup Utility menu to allow the system startup without pressing Esc key on POST 2010 warning message. ...

..and...

Version 1.16 (74ET46WW)
Note: This BIOS version will only work with Embedded Controller Program Version 1.00 (or higher).

* (New) "POST 2010 Error" warning message is added. This error message appears when firmware level of attached serial ATA hard drive is old
...

So maybe the solution is to downgrade bios to te 1,15 version?

I don't know, if my BIOS version is newest. I never told I updated my BIOS. These things can get nasty as there are two firmwares to update and they have to be compatible. Play with it at your own risk. I can live with it as the boot time is greatly reduced overall.
