Reburbed at $450 USD (though in Mexican pesos). They're offered with the base also at the same price. Any thoughts

IMHO, if the X31 is in mint condition, and it includes a decent hard drive and 1GB or more of RAM, and it includes a CDRW drive in the X3 Ultrabase, and that price includes shipping to Mexico, then yes it is an OK deal. Even better if the seller includes some type of short term warranty.

I second Harry's opinion.

I got a mint X32 (2GHz) last month from BobA for $390 excluding RAM and HDD. My machine has a brand new mobo and keyboard, the plastics are very tidy and the screen is bright and has no scratches / pixel problems. So $450 sounds a fair price for a refurb'ed X31.

Thanks. Seems the seller is IBM Business Partner, he has lot of stock on T42, X31, T43 & R52, even though his grammar is terrible. Here are the scarce specs on the X31:

IBM X 31 SERIES:
512 RAM
30- 40 GB HDD
COMBO .-WIFI .-
ULTRA PAQUEÑA SLIM ,
BASE without additional cost DVD CDRW .-
LCD screen 12 .1 LCD

Those are currently out of stock, but in August they will be available again. Is is worth having one of these. I'm interesting in using it for school and wondering if this are trusty machines

I have had a number of X3* series, and I love them. If you need a bit more portability than a T2* or T4* series, go for it. I have had no problems with any of mine, except for an LCD that went bad on the X30, but then, it was quite old by then. My experience is they tend to run hot, but still reliable. You can use software to adjust the fan and processor speed to keep them a bit cooler.
