Can I replace the screen of my Thinkpad X40 with a x31 screen?

possible but my guess would be not..

grab the hardware maintenance manuals for each thinkpad model and see if the parts are similar..

there are several criteria..
physical fit and electronic fit AND the plugs on each thinkpad model..
