X31 - F1 key 'Entering IBM BIOS Setup Utility' problem

#1 Post by poshgeordie » Tue Aug 05, 2008 10:12 am

Power up X31 & press F1 displays 'Entering IBM BIOS Setup Utility' logo, but doesn't ever move on from this screen.

Tried the following:

1. Removed cmos battery, and shorted mobo cmos battery connections.

2. Removed internal battery, cmos battery and AC adaptor connector. Held down power on button for many seconds and repeated a number of times.

Memory confirmed to be OK on another X31.

Does anyone have any further ideas?

Remove your hard drive/any other devices that are bootable. Usually it will stick at that screen because it's sputtering with a bootable something that isn't cooperating.

Thanks for your reply.

I have tried with and without a hard drive and CD ROM and nothing fitted other than memory and it didnt' make any difference. I suspect the motherboard's broken.
