X31 + girlfriend + half a glass of water = Battery problems

#1 Post by smoothsaten » Wed Aug 06, 2008 2:18 pm

Hello everyone,

My girlfriend recently spilled half a glass of water over my X31 and the following happened after it turned itself off:

1. I screamed. Loudly.

2. I immediately took the X31 appart without a clue as to what i was doing and how i was going to do it.

3. I realised that most of the water had stayed in the keyboad, so dried it and put it all back together.

4. the X31 turned back on and I walked around looking very smug.

Then, the problems started. My X31 works almost perfectly except for the fact that although it will run off battery power, it will no longer charge either of my batteries even though according to the power guage they are charging.
I have even tried charging one of the batteries though the ultra base but no joy.
anyone have a clue what the problem is and how, if possible, i can fix it?
Go on, be a devil and stop me contemplateing ways to get my own back  (please?)
Peace and love, though murder is a beautifull thought when you have a girlfriend you love too much to actually kill.

I'm not sure what you can do now, I'm sure someone else can give advice on that.

In the future, I suggest waiting a 2-5 days before using any electronic device that has gotten wet. Power it down, take out any batteries, take apart and dry with towels. Keep it in a dry environment after draining all the water out, in the same direction as the water came in. A few days give time for all the water/moisture to completely dry. If you turn it on while it's still wet, there's a chance of ruining some electronics.

I've fallen into lake/river on a couple of separate occasions and after a good drying, my phone still works. :)

Drop them accidentally into the wood chipper, "oops!"
