Question about the new X40's
Question about the new X40's
Hi Everyone,
I've been reviewing the X40's for the past 2 weeks or so.
Got a question i was hoping you could help me out with.
The reviews i've read all say the X40 comes with a 4cell battery with an optional 8 cell battery.
But when i look on the ibm web site for the most uptodate X40 (2371GHM)
http://www-605.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/store ... alogId=-36
it says it comes with an 8 Cell battery.
Just wondering if anyone has got a 2371GHM or a similar new X40 and if it came with an 8 cell or 4 cell battery?
grateful for any advise/help ...

The 4 cell battery on the X40 sits in the back and is flushed. The 8 cell is sticking out in the back. There is also an extended life battery that sits on the bottom of the laptop which makes the laptop tilt a little and slightly thicker. In addition there is an ultrabay slim battery for the X40 which fits in the ultrabase.

Correct. You get either one or the other when you purchase the ThinkPad.eriqesque wrote:Yes they attach to the same place.xcmx wrote:ok.. please let me know if i got this right:
do the 4 cell and the 8 cell battery fit into the same slot (ie. you can't use both at the same time.. either use the 4 cell or the 8 cell at one time?)
cheers
If you want a second battery that doesn't require removing the first, your options are the UltraBay slim battery and the Extended Life battery. To decide between the two, consider your computing needs - if you will often travel with the UltraBase attached, I'd get the UltraBay slim battery. If you don't plan to travel much with the UltraBase attached, I'd get the extended life battery.
It seems to me that the most possible uptime on batteries would be getting the 8-cell battery and the Extended Life battery.
