I took my X31 to a friend's house, and had it plugged into his amplifier, to play some tunes. I warned everybody not to trip over the cable, which was duly noted, until I tripped over it myself. This caused serious damage to the headphone socket. Now the laptop does not give out any audio at all, either from the headphone socket, or the built-in speaker.
I have taken the laptop apart. The headphone socket module has completely come away from the mainboard. There seems to be five connections from the module to the board. Three of them appear to be from a lower level than the surface (multi-layer circuit boards?).
I have very poor soldering skills, and I am not even sure all the connections are on the surface layer, so, I have no idea what I am supposed to do to get my beloved X31 back into operation.
