I want to extend and upgrade my warranty,........

#1 Post by proaudioguy » Sat Oct 04, 2008 7:32 am

My second X32 is out of Warranty on Tuesday so I want to upgrade and extend my Warranty on Monday. What do I need to ask for? When I tried to do this with my other X32 they upgraded my warranty for the last 2 months of the 3 years and charged me for a full upgrade, which I thought was extending to 5 years. They told me it was the only warranty available but some members here say the sales person was ignorant of the facts. I just want to be armed with all the facts when I call.

Thanks

What type of warranty do you currently have?

If it's depot, you will be purchasing a 5-year warranty, with any upgrades that you might be looking for. Be advised that accident protection is not likely to be available for your machine at this point. Also, they don't have to sell you the upgrade, but they MUST sell you the basic 5-year.

My experiences, hopefully helpful.

Just the standard 3 year depot I believe. I want the 5 year on site. I tried to get that for my other X32 and they kind of screwed me.

I was able to upgrade to onsite for 2 years extended. I tried to upgrade my X60T warranty and they said I couldn't do it because it was already upgraded. It was purchased with the 3 year depot which I didn't consider an upgrade since it was purchased that way. I do have the option of adding on 2 years of onsight but if anything happens between now and May of 2010 I'd have to still send it in and the upgrade cost is far more expensive than the original warranty.

The cost of the upgrade for the X32 is nearly as much as buying an entire machine. I almost didn't bother with it, but I figure it's at least peace of mind since I use this for my work and the thing HAS to keep working.

Just curious: have you found acquiring the accident protection easily negotiable after escalating past the CSR?

They told me I could only get accident protection on my X60 Tablet in the first 90 days. Something that was never mentioned before.
