Would this RAM work with the X41 (non-tablet)

#1 Post by nchall » Thu Oct 16, 2008 1:48 pm

http://www.buy.com/prod/crucial-2gb-pc2 ... 47468.html

2gb
pc2 5300
667 mhz
200 pin
Sodimm
DDR2

From what I have read I am pretty sure it can take 2GB in the slot, and I think these specs are correct. Was just wondering if any experts would care to chime in.

Thanks!

Most likely it will. People have had different experiences. Some machines recognized 2.5GB in BIOS while the others failed to boot at all.

Buy at your own risk.

I doubt it, its DDR2.

X4x only accepts DDR

That is true for X40, not for X41/T.

What about this

http://frys.com/product/5503990

In specific Frys ram is PC2-5300 CL5 and and on crucial.com the ram they recommend is PC2-4200 CL4

EDIT: works on the X41 as well as the 2.16ghz macbook, another laptop crucial lists working with sticks up to 1gb. On the macbook, the OS sees 3gb out of 4gb installed. Thanks rkawakami.

A PC2-4200 DDR2 (533Mhz) CL4 module is virtually identical in speed to a PC2-5300 (667Mhz) CL5 module; the CL5 module is actually a hair faster. The only thing which might cause a problem is if the CL5 module does not have the proper SPD programming for supporting CL4 mode and the X41 performs such a check. As Fry's is generally very accommodating with customer returns, you can always give it a try and see what happens.

So basically every Thinkpad from X41 onward came out with the same DDR2 (200pins etc.)? I can pull out a stick from X61 and it will work on X41?

Just making it clear so I won`t through my money on a new one.

Will it fit?
