X41 Tablet problems

#1 Post by Neon Dion » Sat Oct 25, 2008 3:09 pm

It wont turn on when not plugged in, either the battery's dead and wont take a charge, or the MoBo is messed up and wont charge the battery. It also says that the firmware is not up to date for the hard drive, but it is, I found that unsupported hard drives may cause this to happen, however the one in there is supported since it is one that Lenovo uses (HTC426040G9T00).

When I turn it on it gives me error 2010: which is the hard drive firmware is out of date, but I booted from the fdd and it says it has the right firmware, if i choose to continue, it just loads a blinking cursor(no OS?), which is weird because I got it to boot into XP once, but powered off almost immediately, after that I got an error that a system file was missing or corrupt and now all I can get is the cursor...

any help would be appreciated, I'm personally thinking that the mobo is messed up, but who knows, thanks

Run the Hitachi Drive Fitness Test on the drive.

Thanks Harry,

I ran the test and it gave me an 0x72 disposition code which means that the hard drive is about to fail I guess, but it's a brand new HDD, so I dont think thats it, I'm still on the mobo is dying, but if that code helps you out more let me know,

thanks again,

-Dion

I would replace the drive for a SMART failure. If it is under warranty, that would mean a call to Lenovo. Your other problem is probably a bad battery. The boot problem sounds like a corrupted OS.

This is the second drive its happened to though, and it's not under warranty, figures that this started happening almost immediately after the warranty was up... :x

I'd hate to buy ANOTHER drive for the same thing to happen as when I bought this one, I think I might just scrape it...
