How long a new battery to X30 will last?

Hi,

How long X30 (and x41) batteries should last?

I have a used X30 and the battery lasts almost an hour. What are my options? If it`s buying a new battery, I will be very happy if you could pinpoint me to a store, eBay preferred.

Have you discharged it much or has it been on the adapter most of the time? Sometimes if the battery is on the adapter for a long time the battery manager circiut gets a bit out of whack. I would charge it fully and discharge is down to 20% a couple of times before I make the decision to buy new. If you are running Vista this is easy to do, just set it up in the power sectin. Under XP you can tell it to shut down at 20% and plug the battery back in.

Recalibrate the battery. Disable all power management on the laptop, charge it fully, and let it run the battery down until it shuts off. Then plug it in, and let it charge (preferably with the laptop off).

It's my understanding that full discharge of Lion batteries is not recommended unless necessary. I have read numbers or 20% to 40% for optimum life, but I suspect it has something to do with specific battery chemistry.

True. Full discharge should be avoided EXCEPT when calibrating the battery gauge. This can only be achieved with a full discharge, as it needs to figure out how much power goes back into the battery.

Thanks for all your help but the recharging didn`t do it. Can someone could pinpoint me to a store, eBay preferred, where I can buy a good battery? I would be very glad for a direct link from a knowledgeable person.

I would only calibrate it if the battery gauge seems to be inaccurate, or every few months (4-6) for good measure.

I just bought 4 OEM in their boxes on eBay for $20 ea. I charge them up and they give me about 3 hrs. Otherwise my history has been spotty, sorry.
