#1 Post by mazzinia » Sat Nov 15, 2008 8:27 pm

Hi,

don't know if this question is generic or influenced by the particular thinkpad model but... would and X31 with a sata addon pcmcia card be able to boot from an external hd ?

I bet not. To be bootable, a device needs BIOS support in the first step (after that also support from the OS/bootloader). I don't know any ThinkPad BIOS after the 570/600/770 generation that supports booting anything connected to the PCMCIA/PCCard bus.
