What would you pick, a used X40 or a new Ideapad S10?
I'm shopping for a friend who will use this computer while traveling and while at school. She commutes to school daily and will be carrying it with her.
I'm trying to decide between a used X40 which can be had for about, or a new Ideapad S10 with 1GB of memory and a 160GB hard drive for about.
The new S10 will probably cost about $100 more than the used X40.
Which would you choose?

Maybe OT, but why limit oneself to X40? X60s have taken a tumble in prices, and I'd take that over IdeaPad or X40 any given day...

The spec's are certainly comparable.
Both 1.2kg with small battery. Both 512MB-1GB.
Bigger HDD on the S10, better screen on the X40.
It might come down to how easily you can find an X40 in good condition, and the price.
Some might choose the X40 solely for the trackpoint. I hate touchpads.
Same issues apply to any netbook though. Is there anything special about the Lenovo one?

for me... x40 (ehm, x41 tablet, because of its hardly conquerable IPS screen), it's old and I can cope with most of its issues
for her... probably some of the netbooks, she'll like it more and it should be more issue-prone option (as any new computer).
You should decide based on her particular needs, maybe let her try both options hands on.

When I had to choose, I chose X40. Bigger screen and better performance with the same weight.
