Thinkpad X31 Atheros Wireless Drops connection

#1 Post by mulroonl » Tue Nov 25, 2008 9:45 pm

My HDD failed so I upgraded to a 80GB HDD. Fresh install of XP Pro with all service packs and critical updates. When computer goes into sleep mode and picked back up to use the connection will drop and it cannot locate wireless network. A reboot fixes the problem.

This is very annoying. I have the latest drivers, etc. This constantly happens. What could this be? Laptop did not behave this way before I reinstalled OS.

Some users, including myself, have noticed an increase in dropped connections after upgrading to SP3 for XP. I've purposely held off from upgrading on my new machine after seeing the issues I had before.

Any BIOS settings re-set when you re-installed OS? Could this be in power management from the BIOS, or something that the OS handles? What have you done so far to try to fix this?
