Power saving 5400rpmm HDD for X30

#1 Post by Marco665 » Wed Nov 26, 2008 9:44 pm

I want to replace old Hitachi 4200rpm hdd with something a bit bigger and faster but I don't have enough cash for SSD SLC and I don't want to loose more energy :).
Will the WD 800/1600 BEVE consume the same amount of energy as 4200rom hard drive?? Are there better hdd's than the WD??

The WD 5400 may quite well use less power than the older 4200rpm drive. Technology marches on!

There's comparable drives that use less power than the WDs. Seagate, Samsung and Hitachi how versions that will work for you. For specific model numbers, you'd have to do a bit of searching. You might look around in the T4x forums, this is a pretty common topic over there.

Thanks for your reply,
I think I'm going to get the WD800BEVE or Hitachi 5k100 if I can find a new one (WD's price last week was same as SATAII 320GB and stores don't offer it anymore, same with WD) on polish ebay or something.
