my x-40 is giving me the blue screen of death...

#1 Post by cal4ever » Sun Jan 23, 2005 3:09 am

After I shut down (complete shut down), the blue screen of death appears right before my computer turns off. Then, my x-40 reboots and tells me it had a critical error. Here's the error message that's popping up:

C:\DOCUME~1\NAME~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERdaa7.dir00\Mini012205-03.dmp
C:\DOCUME~1\NAME~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\WERdaa7.dir00\sysdata.xml

Any ideas on what I should do?

thanks! I've done a search, but found nothing. I hope someone hasn't posted this before.

Hi Cal4ever,

You can try here: http://aumha.org/win5/a/shtdwnxp.php

In the past I've pointed people to this site needing to figure out shutdown problems on WindowsME and 2000. I've not had to look for anything on XP (yet!).

there may be somethhing there you recognise - Good luck! :)

I had the same problem. And I figured out the problem was Symantec Norton came with the default installation, I uninstalled it and I have no longer blue screens.
Let's go'n'restart :-)
