Fiesta: Beer and Parties backup utility for older HPA models

#1 Post by mazzinia » Sat Feb 28, 2009 9:14 am

Don't know if someone wrote about this before, and on top of this ... this information is relevant to other models and not only to X.

Apparently someone made a standalone, very quick utility to handle the HPA

"This program is an easy to use info/backup/restore/copy tool for the Host Protected Area data (usually containing Predesktop, System installers, diagnostic tools, etc) found on laptops featuring HPA-supporting BIOSes, such as some models of IBM ThinkPad" (as stated on the website)

http://sourceforge.net/projects/fiesta

I guess a certain amount of people will find this thing interesting. I suppose also that this post is not exactly in the right location since should relate to other models, like some T.

Yep, I know, but I think nothing prevents to run it from a boot cd or from a boot flash pendrive.
The main point is that is being said that this program can do its job in 1/10th of time compared to using fwbackup + fwrestore
