X31 tearing with ati mobility

#1 Post by sleo45 » Sat Apr 18, 2009 9:28 am

Hello

I using windows xp and i have some tearing effect in video. The same effect occurs when played from wmp or youtube. When i change the video renderer in zoom player, the tearing is more or less visible but still there.
This occurs with every drivers from ati, ibm or omega.
Do i need to set a special option?
am i the only one experiencing this kind of problem?

thanks

Have you installed XP Codec Pack? After yo've done so, install Windows Media Player Classic Home Cinema http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/ and replace the Media Player Classic that's bundled. It's a re-write of Media Player Classic that uses the GPU to play movies.

As far as I know, no other video player can use the graphics chip to handle processing.

I regularly play full screen videos on an X22 with no problems at all. That has a slower processor (Pentium III-M Tualatin 800Mhz, upon which your Pentium M Banias is based) and the same graphics chip (Radeon 7000).

It might also help to install ATI Tray tools, tweak the video options.
