I've decided, after getting my X40, that I want to restore something *like* the original XP environment that came with the machine, but I want to install XP on the 2nd partition (D:), since I reserve the 1st drive (C:) for boot managers and as a temporary space for emergencies, and also not install the recovery partition.
That is, I want to install WinXP on D:, with all the software IBM originally included, but without the service partition.
The problem is, the recovery CDs, of course, just want to install to C: and install the recovery partition. Has anyone ever got IBM to tell them if there's any way to change which drive they install XP to, and for it NOT to install the recovery partition?
