X41 Audio glitches linked to graphics
X41 Audio glitches linked to graphics
Is this normal?
seems to be linked to the graphics/shared memory.
if i play music with any media player and surf the internet simultaneously i get audio glitches and freezes on pages with moving graphics on them. rotating photo gallerys or moving images etc.
it happens when the audio file is playing off both internal and external drives.
I have 1.5gigs of memory so i thought i'd get a smoother performance.
i havent had this from any pc before, even much older ones.
is there a fix?
thanks.

Re: X41 Audio glitches linked to graphics
It is probably due to the molasses slow 4200rpm hard drives
EDIT: If its doing it even with an external then IDK. The LV Pentium M processors werent made to be amazing performers though...

Re: X41 Audio glitches linked to graphics
To OP,
I checked this on my X40 today and even running on battery and CPU on low performance, 600Mhz, there was no problem playing music and surfing the web at the same time.
The music was on a very slow CF card and the interface was PIO via a PCMCIA adapter. The system has only 768MB RAM.
Was the OS image in your system from the factory or build from retail distro? If it was built from retail distro, you may need the intel chipset driver.

Re: X41 Audio glitches linked to graphics
thanks for your replys.
its specifically linked to pages with moving graphics. those adverts that morph or have a looped graphic cause it, as do photo gallerys that have auto shuffling. every time the graphic or photo moves i get an audio glitch. is this a flash thing maybe?
i got the x41 used but great condition from a retailer but i rebuilt the o/s side of it myself. i'm fairly experienced at this and i downloaded all the correct drivers from the lenovo site so i'm not sure thats the issue.
i wanted to iron out any potential audio issues as i plan to use this laptop for live sound performance. obviously i wont be surfing the internet whilst doing this! but i'd like know if there is something i need to fix or if its a hardware limitation.
the problem is also there when i use a pc card slot soundcard, so its not the built in soundcards fault.

Re: X41 Audio glitches linked to graphics
I haven't yet seem to notice this so far on the X41T, may you post the detail procedure to re-produce the problem?
Re: X41 Audio glitches linked to graphics
Yeah sure, just play an mp3 using vlc or windows media player and go to http://www.myspace.com/
there should be a moving graphic on that page (there is while i write this anyway).
after a few seconds i get pauses and glitches in the media player every time this graphic moves.
i'm using firefox and xp sp3
