X41-T is having problems entering standby....

#1 Post by Investinwaffles » Tue May 05, 2009 8:42 pm

Ok, so I usually try to keep my computer on standby in between classes because it takes too long for me to enter/exit hibernation and the 4200rpm drive is terribly slow at startup.

It works fine the first and second time I do it, and sometimes it will work 3 times. But most of the time the screen will just go blank, but the computer will still be on and not in stand by. I can feel the HDD spinning, fan blowing, lights on etc.

What gives? Does anyone know why im having this problem?

Does it enter Standby correctly with Fn+F4? If it does, the lid switch is not operating correctly.

Nope, i dont have the lid switch activated (it is set to do: nothing).

It does it regardless of whether I use FN+F4, start -> shutdown -> standby, or the tablet input panel.

the ONLY time that it will go on standby after 3 times is if it runs low on battery (it is set to force standby if a program stops responding).
Maybe I just need to re-install windows again
