I bought a X41T 2 weeks ago on craigslist for $100 and the hdd was wiped. The ac adapter was not even the one specifically came with the laptop but supposedly work on the laptop. Worst case was the tablet seems like it was used by a heavy smoker. I was about to put it back on craigslist due to the heavy cigarette smell, but checked up on warranty for the heck of it. To my surprised, there were warranty left until 2010. I knew that the warranty will come handy but didn't expect to use it this fast. The same night the battery died out on me and the charger didn't seems to want to charge. It actually drained the battery faster. So I had no choice but to order another ac adapter or send it for service.
I took the second option of sending it into service and one single call, got the rep overnighted a repair box. I told him that the laptop was not charging and the motherboard might need to be replace. Plus since I have no means to try to reinstall Windows Tablet, I agreed to have them reimage it. Before sealing the box up, I threw in the ac adapter that came with the laptop (knowing that it maybe the problem the laptop is not charging). Took them 2 days to repair the laptop and I just got it back an hour ago.
Everything was up to specs, and the best part was, the laptop doesn't have the heavy cigarette smell anymore and they gave me another ac adapter that supposedly came with the laptop. All in all, A+ for IBM/Lenovo. This makes me want to sell my Dell M1530 to get another IBM, but with heavy graphic programming, I needed the graphic card of the M1530 at the moment.
IBM/Lenovo Service made my day.
Re: IBM/Lenovo Service made my day.
Thanks for taking the time to report the good experience you had with service. All too often people will go out of their way to complain about Lenovo. It's great to hear stories like this which give them credit for a job well done. Speaking for myself, I too have had excellent service out of the Atlanta GA service department.
