Hello,
I will work in Colorado for the summer and would like to buy a X40 Thinkpad there. Because I'm used to the german keyboard I would like to exchange the keyboard.
Here is the problem.
IBM lists the german keyboards for the X40 as service parts
91P8323(NMB) 93P4642 (Chicony)
(http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.ws ... MIGR-53666)
But in the IBM-USA online shop I can't find the german keybboard.
(http://www-132.ibm.com/webapp/wcs/store ... PartNumber)
IBM-Germany has this keyboard but for around 100$.
Is there a way to get the german keyboard in the US ? Or do I have to
import it from germany.
Does it matter if I buy the NMB or the Chicony version ?
Thank you very much

german X40 keyboard in the US
Re: german X40 keyboard in the US
Buy only stickers. They have to sell them in Germany. Little transparent stickers with german characters, you only put them to keys. It is much cheaperbapou wrote:Hello,

I would prefer a german keyboard.
- the US-keyboard has one key less than the german one
- maybe I will sell the notebook in Germany after some years
- maybe I will try to get it through the custom as german notebook
Maybe anyone know's if IBM USA sell's german keyboard for the X40 and they only forget to list it on their homepage ?
Best regards,
Thomas
