Reinstall System Using Recovery cd on new hdd failed
Reinstall System Using Recovery cd on new hdd failed
I bought new hdd 60gb for my thinkpad x41. I removed my old hdd(20gb) from my x41 and installed my new hdd(60gb). I've tried to reinstall all the system using recovery cd to my new hdd(60gb). After inserted all 6 recovery cds --> automatically reboot---> system restart ---> enter to Think Vantage System Recovery Application---> recovery is running ---> after a few minute later---> It shows error "System failed to recover".
What I should do???
Any suggestion????
Please Help me....

If you have a fdisk utility, run that on the new 60GB drive first. Are there any jumpers on the new HDD?

Yes, you should be able to use XP boot CD. Just do a low level format first. By the way, is this new drive a HTC426060GnAT00 or other drives made for music players?

Thanks for your reply. I can now use my new HDD. I back up all my data from my old hdd to DVD and I restored with my new HDD. May be my R&R cds are something wrong.

Re: Reinstall System Using Recovery cd on new hdd failed
I thought my Windows boot CD or external CD drive gone bad too. But it wasn't. It was just some odd ball format on a music player HDD. It is important to do a F9 returning the BIOS to Default state.

Actually, my HDD is not a music player HDD. It is HTC426060G9AT00 "Hitachi" hard disk.
"F9 returning the BIOS to Default state" what is that mean? can you please explain me?

At boot time, after pressing F1, press F9 to return the BIOS settings to default.
Where are you in Saitama, Omiya? I was just in Tokyo last week and browsed Akihabara Saturday before heading to Narita. I bought an IDE-ZIF adapter from a place just to the west of the Ginza Line Suehirocho Stn.
