cf port on x31

#1 Post by toubib » Fri Jul 10, 2009 11:52 am

there is a cf port and there is a cover piece in it to keep it clean when not occupied ...the cover piece has some cut-outs in it shaped like sd cards ...how come? Does that have any meaning or just a design?

Design. Take a look at PCMCIA/ExpressCard blanks used in other laptops (or, not to look far, T400s) - it's the same design to save material while maintaining some rigidity.

There is no advantage to leaving the blank full-bodied, so it if saves them half a cent each, they'll probably do it.
